Education Education is a human right and one of the most important capabilities of an individual due to its constructive role. Help Code is focused on its inter-connected work at all levels to promote education rights and advance alternative paradigms of education. The approach which distinguishes Help Code is its effort towards a holistic development of the Child, by ensuring not only that basic-needs are met but also the capabilities and the outer environment: i.e. the educational system in its broader conception, the National Plans on Education and the economic and human gaps. Furthermore, our broader vision is to shift the current paradigm on education so that schools play a transformative role in society. The school can actively contribute to social, economic and social justice. We need to recognize that in unequal and unjust societies, education can often maintain and even exacerbate inequalities and injustice
Marginalized Communities and Disadvantaged Ethnic Groups By epitomizing the paradigm of leaving no one behind, Help Code concentrates its efforts towards the most marginalized and disadvantaged communities, ethnic groups and castes within Nepal, believing that equity and an inclusive approach paves the way to social justice and the harmonization of the social fabric. Education can and should be conceived differently, as a pivotal area of struggle for transforming societies, embracing democratic values mitigate conflicts and creating a better future.
Gender Equality and the Girl’s rights Help code believes that a transformative pattern and the elimination of harmful practices, such as child marriage and gender-based violence, requires a specific focus on girl’s empowerment, within the educational system and towards the social environment. By including SDGs number 5 in its programs and focusing on early development, Help Code is directing tacking the root causes of gender discrimination within the Nepalese social fabric. By engaging child-clubs and train them, Help Code believes in the power of Youth as agent of change: students and young people can be a self-interested group, or a highly active and progressive voice for transformation. Both teachers and students can become powerful advocates for a radical rethinking of harmful normative practices.
Poverty reduction, human and economic In order to reduce school dropout and mitigate poverty and its consequences on children’s capabilities and girl’s empowerment, Help Code promotes income generation activities, customized and based on local analysis, child-friendly spaces, decent school facilities (WASH programs and services) and infrastructures and behavioral changes with peculiar reference to discriminative normative and social schema, which prevents girls from attaining a proper education, increases the level of malnutrition and affects children’s health.
Emergency and Humanitarian Response Due to the geomorphologic characteristics of Nepal, the Country is prone to natural disasters and climate change. The 2015 Earthquake and the floods of 2017 are the most significant examples in this regard. Help Code is on the frontline in humanitarian response by providing immediate relief to the affected community by ensuring child protection, education in emergency, food and non-food items and by protecting the dignity of girls.
